Product Description
Roots blowers are positive displacement rotary compressors that utilize advanced drive gears, extending their lifespan and achieving lower noise levels.
Product Structure
Roots blowers mainly consist of five parts: casing, endplates, impeller, oil tank, and silencer.
Casing: Provides support and fixation, forming the blower's "skeleton."
Endplates: Connect the casing to the impeller, supporting impeller rotation and providing end face sealing.
Impeller: The core rotating component, available in two-lobe and three-lobe structures. The three-lobe structure, due to its smaller air pulsation, lower noise, and smoother operation, has gradually replaced the two-lobe structure as the mainstream.
Oil Tank: Stores lubricating oil for the gears and bearings.
Silencer: Reduces noise generated by airflow pulsation at the inlet and outlet.
Product Applications
Roots blowers, with their simple structure, reliable operation, and stable flow rate, are widely used in various fields of industrial production. Wastewater treatment aeration is the largest application, accounting for 39%–40% of global market demand. Specific application areas include:
1. Wastewater and Water Treatment: In municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, Roots blowers provide a continuous and stable supply of oxygen to aeration tanks, making them a key component of aerobic biological systems to ensure COD and BOD removal rates meet standards. Statistics show that aeration system energy consumption accounts for 50%–70% of the total operating cost of a wastewater treatment plant; the selection of the Roots blower directly determines treatment efficiency and long-term operating expenses. It is also used in water treatment processes such as sludge drying, seawater desalination, and ozone treatment.
2. Pneumatic Conveying: The low-pressure, high-flow-rate airflow generated by Roots blowers can transport powdery and granular materials through pipelines to designated locations, and is widely used in conveying systems for materials such as cement, grain, chemical raw materials, and plastic particles.
3. Aquaculture: In fish ponds, shrimp ponds, and hatcheries, Roots blowers provide sufficient dissolved oxygen to the water, ensuring a suitable living environment for aquatic organisms. Over 40% of large-scale commercial livestock farms utilize Roots blower aeration systems, with variable frequency control technology enabling precise adjustment of dissolved oxygen levels.
4. Industrial Process Applications
Chemical/Petrochemical: Conveying chemical raw materials and reaction gases, waste gas recovery, flue gas desulfurization (FGD), fluidized bed processes, etc.
Power Industry: Desulfurization oxidation, gas circulation, ash and dust removal, etc.
Cement/Building Materials: Combustion air supply, raw material conveying, homogenization and mixing;
Metallurgy/Mining: Blast furnace air supply, mineral processing flotation, mine ventilation;
Food/Pharmaceutical: Vacuum packaging, drying, material conveying;
Biogas and Energy: Biogas and landfill gas compression, power generation applications (stainless steel configuration available to withstand corrosive gases).
Overall, Roots blowers cover more than ten industries, including chemical, cement, wastewater treatment, metallurgy, power, food and beverage, papermaking, mining, and oil and gas, making them an indispensable low-pressure gas source in industrial production.
